Year 4 - Osprey - Berlin Wall timeline

This afternoon, as part of our history topic, we looked at the key events surrounding the Berlin wall. We created our very own human timeline to ensure we had our dates in the correct order. Now, we are going to use our computing skills to create our very own timeline on the chrome books.

Year 4 - Osprey - Mission Potato!

This week we have done our weekly potato check and we were so excited to see that we have some green shoots! We have covered the shoots back over with some more compost and have watered them. We have even planted some more outside, as an experiment, to see whether the potatoes grow better inside the poly tunnel or outside!

Year 4 - Osprey - Shopkeepers

For our maths practical this week, we have become shopkeepers! We created our very own shops and used our knowledge of money addition to work out the totals of our receipts. As an even bigger challenge, we then worked out the change too.

Year 4 - Osprey - Potatoes

This week we have been to our allotment to check on the growth of our potatoes and to see what other classes have been planting. We don't have any green leaves on our potatoes yet, but were excited to see what happens when we come back to school after Easter!

Year 4 - Owl - Maths Practical Maths

In Maths, Owl class have been learning about timetables. Consequently, we turned our classroom into our very own Yorkshire inspired train station! As part of a scavenger hunt, we had to solve many clues to navigate our way around the station in order to get to the right platforms and catch our trains on time!

Year 4 - Owl - Red Nose Day

In Owl class, we loved learning about Red Nose Day and wearing our favourite red outfits! We think it is an extremely important cause and we found it incredibly interesting to look at all of the work that Comic Relief do! We took on some quizzes and challenges throughout the day and learnt so much about Red Nose Day!

Year 4 - Osprey - Train Platforms

This week in maths we have been learning about timetables. We have converted our classrooms into our very own Yorkshire train station! As part of a scavenger hunt, we worked in small teams to solve the different clues in the envelopes and get to the correct platform on time!

Year 4 - Osprey - Planting Potatoes

As part of our Design and Technology topic 'Farm to Fork' we have planted some potatoes! We cannot wait to see these potatoes grow over the coming weeks and enjoy them as jacket potatoes!

Year 4 - Osprey - Forest Fun

This week, we went into the forest and made lots of dens using our natural resources. It was a great afternoon with lots of teamwork and perseverance. 

Year 4 - Osprey - Planting Potatoes

In Owls class this week, we have been planting our very own potatoes with Mrs Percy! We are extremely excited to see how well they grow and to maybe even try them when they are ready!

Year 4 - Owl - Wax Resist Leaves

Over the last week in Owls class, we have loved learning a new skill in art called 'wax resist!' We have been painting watercolour over lines formed by using wax crayons to create our very own autumn inspired leaves! It was extremely exciting to see the watercolour reveal the invisible wax markings that we had been making! We have even challenged ourselves by testing the technique on different materials such as canvas and cotton to observe what effect this would have! We have really enjoyed creating our leaves and we can't wait to see them displayed around the school!

Year 4 - Osprey - Maths Map Challenge

For our practical maths lesson, we have been applying our conversion skills to a map problem solving activity. Using a map of Yorkshire, we have found the distance between two different places and then converted the measurements from kilometres to metres. 

Year 4 - Osprey - Wax resist

This week in art we have been learning all about a technique called 'Wax resist'. We have used watercolour over wax crayon on different types of materials to create our very own watercolour wax resist leaves. We have absolutely loved creating them and can't wait for them to be displayed around school!

Year 4 - Owl - Dance Performance

This week, in Owl class, we have spent lots of time preparing for our Drama Christmas showcase! We have painted our own flags to represent our country and we have loved practicing our actions and song!

Year 4 - Owl - Science Volume Experiments

In Owl class, we have been investigating how the volume of sound can be affected by the amount of energy used to create it. Using many items like rulers, drums and balloons, we were able to experiment and reach a scientific conclusion.

Year 4 - Osprey - Sound and Volume

In Osprey class we have been learning about volume and how it can be affected. We have carried out several investigations including one with a balloon, a ruler and a drum!

Year 4 - Osprey - Scratch

In Osprey class, as part of our ICT topic, we have been creating a times table game on Scratch. We have been looking at how we can use variables to say if the answer was correct or incorrect. We are so proud of Alice, who came and taught the entire class how to create their own algorithm!

Year 4 - Owl - Sound Science Experiment

As part of our sound topic in science, Owls class have taken part in an experiment to find the most suitable material to use in a set of headphones. We investigated how the pitch of sound may be affected by different materials and we were even able to explain how the sound vibrations may travel differently through the various materials. 

Year 4 - Owl - Maths 3D Shapes

In Maths, we have been learning about shapes and we have particularly enjoyed looking at 3D shape nets this week. Not only have we had the opportunity to construct our own 3D shapes, but we have also been able to successfully identify many of their properties!

Year 4 - Osprey - Science Sound Experiment

In Osprey class we have been learning about how materials affect the volume of sound. We have created our own pair of ear defenders to investigate how the volume of sound is affected by a range of materials.

Year 4 - Owls - Diwali Art

This week in Owl class, we have been learning about Hinduism and Diwali, the festival of lights. Using our paint mixing skills, we have created our own Rangoli designs using varying different shades of blue. 

Year 4 - Osprey - Diwali

In Osprey class we have been learning about Diwali and why Hindus use Rangoli patterns. We have created our own Rangoli patterns in pairs.

Year 4 - Owl - Ancient Greeks

Over the last few weeks, Owl class have been learning all about the Ancient Greeks. Myles challenged himself and brought in this amazing Ancient Greek inspired shield that he had made to show us all! 

Year 4 - Owl - Children In Need

Owl class thoroughly enjoyed dressing up in sporty and spotty clothes for Children in Need. We also loved participating in lots of sporty events throughout the day, including a Joe Wicks workout!

Year 4 - Osprey - Secret Agent Reading

In Osprey class we have had a very exciting delivery! Savannah stumbled across a secret envelope that had been left inside our reading corner. It was surrounded by glitter and snowflakes! Intrigued, we opened it to find what was inside and it was a letter on behalf of Santa! He has set Osprey class a secret challenge to complete and once completed, we must send our challenges back to the North Pole. If we complete them, we will receive a personalised letter from Santa! We're so excited to complete our reading challenge!

Year 4 - Osprey - Penguin

In Osprey class we have been learning all about the amazing Adelie Penguin and about their characteristics. We have written a non- chronological report based on these phenomenal creatures!

Year 4 - Owl - Halloween Day

Owl class have really enjoyed having a Halloween themed day! We have made such an effort with our spooky costumes and outfits and have loved creating our pop-up bat cards!

Year 4 - Osprey - Halloween Outfits

We have all made the most amazing effort today with our Halloween outfits! We are so excited for our day of spooktacular activities! 

Year 4 - Owl - Penguin Art

We have been learning all about Adelie penguins and our adopted animal in Owl class. Not only have we written our own non-chronological reports based on all of the amazing facts we have learnt, but we have also loved creating a penguin art piece using pastels to show a penguin and the Northern Lights! 

Year 4 - Owl - Science Circuits

In Owl class, we have been creating and performing our own dance piece based on Mission Impossible. We have thoroughly enjoyed acting out different scenarios and incorporating lots of creative elements into the dance too!

Year 4 - Osprey - Capital Cities Quiz

In Osprey's class we have been learning about capital cities. We challenged each other to see whether we could remember the different capital cities and then we had a quiz to find our capital city champion! 

Year 4 - Osprey - Circuits

We have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about electricity this half term and have ended our topic with creating our own circuits. We experimented with different elements in our circuit including buzzers, motors and light bulbs!

Year 4 - Osprey - Reading Challenge

We are so incredibly proud of our class as today we finished our class reading challenge and came third! We have all tried so incredibly hard and our so pleased to have come third!

Year 4 - Osprey - Dance Performance

In Osprey class, we have been creating our own dance routines based on mission impossible. We have loved getting creative and putting different elements into our routines!

Year 4 - Osprey - Secret Agent Mission

On Tuesday morning, as we entered into school, we discovered that a mysterious envelope had been left in our reading corner. We were all extremely curious! We carefully opened the letter to see what was inside. Inside was a secret agent mission, which had been posted from a group of secret spies! We have been challenged to each read 8 more times by the end of the week to gain a special prize. We are now all working tirelessly to complete our mission!

Year 4 - Osprey - Savannah

This week Savannah achieved 100% on reading her 100 high frequency words by sight! We are all so proud of her!

Year 4 - Osprey - Hello yellow!

The children have made such an effort today to join in with our Hello yellow event! Osprey class enjoyed reading the book 'The dot' and then creating their own designs based on this. There were so many wonderful pieces of art work!
